| Winery U! at Dry Comal Creek Vineyards • Jan 16-Dec 14 |
New Braunfels, TX - Winery U! is the first of its kind in among Texas Hill Country Wineries, offering a series of decidedly non-pretentious classes designed to wring the snobbishness out of wine. (If you’re still a snob after graduating from Winery U! we won’t hold it against you!)
Sure, there are some serious parts to making wine. But what fun is that? We’re all about having a good time when it comes to learning what a winemaker does from start to finish, using all your senses to appreciate the fruit of the vine, getting your wine -- and whine -- questions answered, and learning how food and wine can play nice together (and we don’t mean dance the tango!).
What’s in a Glass or What’s in a Class?

| Vino al Pastor - • Jun 21 |
| Texas Hill Country, TX - Texas Wine Road 290 event – June 21, 2008
New Wine Trail holds 2nd event – Vino al Pastor
Fredericksburg, Texas - Texas Hill Country - Nine wineries, making up the Texas Wine Road 290 wine trail, in cooperation with the Texas Pork Producers Association invite you to participate in a Saturday, June 21 event. Each winery will team with a top restaurant in the Texas Hill Country to present VINO AL PASTOR. Vino al Pastor literally means wine & “Shepherd style” meat. Tacos al pastor, is a Mexican dish adoption of a spit-grilled meat, usually pork, served on a taco. Each restaurant will prepare a recipe using pork shoulder meat, usually marinated with a blend of different spices and herbs, and some “summertime” grilling presentation. When you visit the winery during the trail day of the event you will enjoy a wine especially paired with the PORK recipe served using PORK shoulder meat. You will also receive a copy of the recipe enjoyed at the winery.
The wineries along Highway 290 from one mile east of Johnson City to nine miles west of Fredericksburg make up one of the most successful wine travel destinations in the U.S., second only to NAPA. Each of the wineries offer their normal tasting and the PORK pairing taste will not cost any extra.
Wineries participating are Becker Vineyards, Bell Mountain Winery Tasting Room, Chisholm Trail Winery, Fredericksburg Winery, Grape Creek Vineyard, Lost Creek Winery Tasting Room, Texas Hills Vineyard, Torre di Pietra Vineyards, and Woodrose Winery. Wineries recommend that you plan to spend the evening locally (maybe a B&B) and enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants. Some of the participating restaurants are August E’s, Cotton Gin (Cabernet Grill), Navajo Grill, Silver Creek Restaurant & Bier Garten, and Silver K Cafe, with more to be named later.
